I have been in a reading slump myself. I'm glad that your husband was able to find another job so quickly, it's challenging these days. I had no idea that you live in WI. I live in Chicago but am in WI practically every week for work. Tomorrow I will be in Madison. Good luck with the move! I really hope my reading picks up by the fall. We have been so busy doing things outside that by the time I get home I am exhausted, too exhausted to even hold up a book! Take care

I'm really interested in education systems, past and future, but I hadn't heard of this book. I'm going to need to add it to my wishlist immediately!

I have not read this book. But I will comment on my daughter's experience in the Chicago Public School system. She is entering the 6th grade. Overall, I am very satisfied with her education experience. When my husband was having very bad bout of depression; her teachers and other school staff were there for her. They had no problem taking time out of their day to see how she was doing and just listening to her if she needed it. The only thing that I have been unhappy about was this year; when my daughter was having problems in math. The teacher did not give us any suggestions on how we could help her. Just have her ask questions to the teacher instead of her friends.

We will have to see what will happen when she moves on to high school.

I will have to check out this book to see what actually it says about our education system.

Unfortunately this is true. Our children and grandchildren are at such great risk. This book will hopefully open the eyes of many.

Wow, this sounds like a great book. I was an education major and have read horror stories about our education system. Like you said, it is not all bad.

Now this is a top 100 list I can really relate too. There are a lot I haven't read but would be more inclined to read than the ones on some other list (ie. Jane Eyre or Siddhartha) Do you mind if I copy your copy? LOL (((hugs)))
